Balsam Bashing, Pendle Water, near Burnley

August 1, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

BalsamThe non-native plant Himalayan balsam is a major problem in the Ribble Catchment, especially on riverbanks. It grows rapidly and spreads quickly, smothering other vegetation as it goes.  We need your help to eradicate this invasive weed before it spreads even further through our catchment.

Heald Wood is a delightful deciduous woodland on the banks of Pendle Water, with plenty of opportunity to see kingfishers, dippers and much more. We’ve been tackling three different invasive species on this site and just need to finish off the Himalayan balsam with your help.

LOCATION: Heald Wood, near Burnley. Parking on Lower Manor Lane, BB12 0EE. Heald Wood: – MAP
BRING: Outdoor clothing (long sleeved shirts and trousers advisable due to nettles), wellies and a packed lunch.  Gloves will be provided.
