Urban River Enhancement Scheme

The Urban River Enhancement Scheme (URES) was delivered in Burnley between 2011 and 2015 with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Environment Agency and others.  It aimed to not only restore the heavily modified river channels in the town centre for the benefit of wildlife, but also to reconnect the people of Burnley with their rivers at the same time by delivering a wide range of engagement activities with the local communities.

The URES project has its very own website – www.ures-burnley.org.uk – which details the plethora of activities that were delivered over the course of the project.
