The clothing store Fat Face began their ‘Thanks for Giving’ campaign at Christmas in 2015. Rather than discounting their products for the Black Friday sales, they maintained their regular prices and instead donated a share of the profits to local charities.
The staff at Clitheroe’s Fat Face store nominated the Ribble Rivers Trust as their selected charity, owing to their love for nature and the outdoors and their desire to protect it for all to enjoy. They went the extra mile, running additional fundraising activities in store and even spending a day helping the Trust to plant trees alongside a local river whilst learning about the various ways water quality can be affected. Now well on its way to becoming established, the new woodland has not only improved the water quality and habitat for river wildlife, but also enhanced the area for local communities and visitors alike.
The staff at Fatface have volunteered with the Trust several more times since 2015 and through the Thanks for Giving campaign, they continue to raise money to support the charity.
The FatFace Foundation is itself a registered charity and was set up in 2009 to make a positive and enduring difference to the lives of people in communities where Fat Face sources, manufactures, retails and distributes its products. Their mission is to inspire families and young people in their local communities to lead happy and fulfilling lives.
