At Ribble Rivers Trust, the health of the River Ribble is at the heart of everything we do.

The health of rivers is defined by 4 principle elements; water quality, water quantity, habitat quality and habitat connectivity.  Ensuring rivers are as healthy as possible means we must address as many of the problems that affect these principle elements as possible.

Our work would not be possible without the support of charitable donations.

You can help us to continue to protect and improve the River Ribble by donating to the Trust, or to a specific project/campaign of interest to you, via either our secure online donation system or by cheque if you prefer.

Please select the category of interest to you below.  Thank you!

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Ribble Rivers Trust to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Ribble Rivers Trust we can claim back 25p from HMRC, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Ribble Rivers Trust to reclaim the tax from HMRC on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Ribble Rivers Trust will reclaim 25p of tax from HMRC on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Ribble Rivers Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Lancashire Woodland Connect Campaign

Everyone knows trees are great for the planet, but did you know that they’re great for people too? Our Lancashire Woodland Connect campaign will strengthen the bond between people, trees, and nature by taking our existing woodlands and joining them up, as well as creating new woodlands for the benefit of people, nature and the planet.

You can support this project by donating £15.00 to plant a tree and we will give you a report on your trees journey and growth, as well as sending you photo updates of the woodland your tree is part of.  Your donation will support and enable us to deliver our Lancashire Woodland Connect campaign to plant 500,000 trees across Lancashire.

Please select from the options below.  Thank you!

There are three ways to leave a legacy; a residuary legacy donates a specific percentage to Ribble Rivers Trust, a pecuniary legacy leaves us a specific amount, or the donation of a specific item. Leaving a legacy can also reduce the percentage of inheritance tax you pay.

Please note that, following Government guidelines and the fact UK Chief Medical Officers have now raised the Coronavirus (COVID-19) risk to the UK from moderate to high, Ribble Rivers Trust are taking precautions, and making changes to our day to day operations.

Some Ribble Rivers Trust staff are now working from home. If you wish to speak to a specific member of staff and you know their mobile phone number or email address please contact them in this way. Otherwise please contact us in the usual way.

Volunteer event cancellations

Dear volunteers,

It is with regret that we announce that we are postponing all volunteer activity with Ribble Rivers Trust. We know there are many benefits to volunteering, including the positive boost to mental and physical health, the chance to meet others and contribute positively to your local area. However, given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the most recent Government advice – asking everybody in the UK to stay at home and only go out for essentials such as food and medicine – we feel that continuing to include volunteers in the limited work we are able to do now would put people at unnecessary risk and be irresponsible. We all want to improve and protect our environment and rivers, but to do that we need to stay healthy and this must be our priority for the time being. We will continue to keep you up to date with the work we are able to do and will organise new volunteer days as soon as we possibly can. Please stay connected with us over the coming weeks and keep yourselves safe and well.

Refer to gov.uk/coronavirus for up to date information and guidance.

We will come through this and our environment and rivers will still need you, let’s make sure we’re all ready for it when the time comes.

Yours faithfully,

Jack Spees.
